We loved it!

I always enjoy visiting your restaurant, there is something special about the atmosphere and people you have working there that makes me feel comfortable, it's a place where I can let down my hair and have a lovely time with family and friends and the food is very affordable. My favorite on the menu is the pizza. Keep up the good work! We will be visiting again soon!

hmm looks delicious..

Appalling Treatment following Mediocre Meal

It seems that the Lucio’s family has endured some sad times recently which is unfortunate, however, I am absolutely appalled at the shocking treatment we received there a couple of nights ago.

Planning to leave for university a few friends were having a farewell dinner. Having booked a table, 5 left after having a few drinks while about 12 of us remained to eat. Bimba approached us and (literally) started screaming that we shouldn’t have booked if people were leaving and about how much money we had supposedly cost her (which I actually highly doubt, since she removed and was able to use the empty table almost as soon as those people had left)

After a disappointingly mediocre meal we called for the rather substantial bill we had rung up. While working out everyone’s share she once again came to the table and asked rather tactlessly whether we would be leaving soon. Her question was accompanied by an offensive tone and glare.

Such impolite behaviour towards paying customers is completely unacceptable. Bimba may have thought our young age justified her rudeness but as students we go out often and spend a lot on restaurant and entertainment industries so it is extremely unwise to antagonize us.

I will definitely NOT be returning to Lucio’s and will make it a point to recount this poor dining experience to as many people as I can.

An thought on "Appalling......" for those that read it

As a student myself, and have gone to the Pizzeria a handful of times, I can understand the situation.

Of course, being on the side of suprise, you do over-critize the sitaution...

Forget about Bimba herself, and think of your fellow student waiter. They see a big table and think they'll make their budget, but only to realize that the table has downsized drastically.
At Lucios, the waiters are students depending on their income for budgetting. I live out the house, and am very aware and dependent on my student jobs.
Also, they market themselves as a family restaurant - not a drinking place.

When closing, I too have been one of the last to leave that place, awnings up, chairs packed etc, but it is why the students work there too and not the Greenside, Parkhurst vibe.... ?

Lucios doesnt have fantastic meals, but run-of-mill, and hence their pricing isn't that high, unlike say a Piato, Georges etc..

And guy, if you have ever worked at a student job (waitering, shop sales, promos) you will know a paying customer doesnt make him all that. He is a customer.

Going on the above, not to say I'm a Lucios Fan in the least (rather do Espesso or Fratelli's personally and actually), but to make a point to recount - come now.

Your world that small?

Gwynneth and I send our deepest condolences

Gwynneth and I send our deepest condolences to Bimba and Armando. We remember the lovely chat we had with Juliano just two weeks ago at the restaurant. God bless.

It is with great sadness that I learned about the death of Claudio of Lucios. He will be greatly missed by me and my family. Lucios were our most favourite place to eat out before we left SA. Condolences to his wife and family.
