Fairland car thieves caught

Two alleged car thieves were arrested after a high speed chase in Soweto on Tuesday, Johannesburg police said.

The two men were driving a car they had allegedly just stolen from a house in Fairland when they were found by a satellite tracking company on Nasrec Road, heading to Diepkloof, Captain Katlego Mokgale said.

"They were forced off the road and arrested."

The men, aged 30 and 32, had already dismantled the blue Citi Golf's dashboard, apparently in an effort to find the tracking device. No shots were fired and no one was injured.

The pair was expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on charges of vehicle theft soon.
