Power has been restored to parts of Gauteng’s north eastern suburbs after dozens of areas were left in the dark on Wednesday. But there is no good news for residents on the West Rand struggling to cope with a blackout.
Netcare 911 paramedics responded to a pedestrian accident on Inner Crescent in Westpark yesterday evening.
“Upon their arrival on scene they found that an eight-year-old child had sustained serious injuries after being knocked over by a motor vehicle”, said Santi Steinmann of Netcare 911.
The number of incidents that ER24 paramedics are called out to involving pedestrians that are knocked down by vehicles seems to be on the increase. In 2013 alone, there have been 728 incidents, many of them fatal, where in 2012 in the same time frame, 598 were reported.
A ten-year-old girl was seriously injured after she was hit by a minibus taxi this morning on Greenhill Road in Emmarentia, Johannesburg.
One man has died and nine others were injured in a rear-end accident along Beyers Naude Drive this morning. Reports from the scene indicate that a car had slammed into the rear of the taxi near Countess Road at around 7am.
Netcare 911 paramedics, its rescue unit and other services responded to an accident on Fourteenth Avenue under the N1 Bridge in Fairland, Florida this morning.
