Urban Crew
Experience Urban living, define your street 'cred' and share your confidence, fashion and music savy at Cresta Shopping Centre’s Urban Crew expo, from Thursday 26th to Sunday 29th June. The event, to open from 10am to 5pm daily, will feature a variety of exhibitions, presentations and demonstrations aimed at ‘urbanites’ with topics ranging from fashion and beauty all the way to skate-boarding and travel.
Exhibitions, placed in various courts of the centre, will range from cellphones, to the hottest CD's and must-reads. There'll even be an exhibitor offering neck and foot massages for visitors in need of a little relaxation.
A special skateboarding demo, featuring top skaters from the Revolution Team, will take place in the centre's amphitheatre on the Saturday. See daily shows featuring the hottest Winter and Spring fashions; suss out the latest make-up trends; catch energetic Capoeirists (Brazilian martial artists) in action (Saturday at 2pm); and see Line Dance and Hip-hop demo's.
Whilst visitors can win one of two Hot Spa Vouchers (compliments of Mangwanani African Day Spa) at a facial demo on Friday (from 2pm); teens can meet some of their favourite SA celebrities, through Fan Touch, on the Saturday and Sunday (from 11am). There'll also be a talk on substance abuse by SANCA (Saturday from 10am).
The event's highlight will be a meet and greet session with SA bands Crash Car Burn, The Black Hotels and One Sock Thief in the Banking Court from 3pm to 4pm on Saturday 28 June
A photogenic competition will be held by modelling portfolio specialists, Ivok Studios during the four day event. Prizes will include lunch/dinner 'dates' with bands Crash Car Burn, The Black Hotels, and One Sock Thief. To enter visit the Ivok Studios stand during the event and have a photo taken – at no charge. The hottest photos will be selected and ten 'finalists' will rule the stage at the competition final on Sunday 29th June from 1pm.
